From Dr. Locke’s extensive experience in counseling individuals, couples, and families to his experience conducting research, writing articles, and speaking at engagements, one common thread prevails: a commitment to excellence. This philosophy that has guided him throughout his career to provide the best treatment possible to a wide variety of clients.

Dr. Thomas F. Locke is a licensed Psychologist who provides counseling to clients seeking to resolve a variety of common issues, including life transitions, relationship discord, child and adolescent adjustment problems, mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, depression, anger management, and much more. He provides individual, couple, and family therapy to a wide-range of clients. He also has significant training and experience in diagnostic, cognitive, and psychological assessment. From 2005 to 2021, Dr. Locke was a Founding Partner in Community Counseling Group. Before that, he worked as a Psychologist in the UCLA Student Psychological Services. He has also held a number of prestigious internships, including the University of Michigan’s School of Medicine and UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Locke served as a Co-Principal Investigator in the UCLA Psychology department from 2002-2012. He specialized in research involving the psychosocial aspects of adolescent and adult development, drug and alcohol abuse, child maltreatment, and high-risk behaviors. Dr. Locke’s commitment to advancing the field is evident in his extensive publishing history. He has authored and co-authored dozens of articles that have appeared in prestigious, peer-reviewed, academic journals including but not limited to the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Family Psychology, Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, Child Abuse and Neglect, Psychology of Addictive Behaviors, Prevention Science, Journal of Studies on Alcohol, and Educational Psychology Review.

Dr. Locke received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from USC in 1999, with an emphasis in Gerontology. He also earned his Master’s degree in Marriage, Family, & Child Counseling from the University of Southern California in 1997, as well as his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Honors in 1994. He has served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor with USC for a graduate level course, Measurement Procedures in the Helping Process and has been a guest lecturer at USC and California Lutheran University where he contributed to other graduate level courses such as Neuropsychological Assessment, Treatment of Substance Abuse, and Theories of Counseling Psychology.

He has been a contributing member in a number of professional associations including, the American Psychological Association, American Public Health Association, California Psychological Association, the Society for Prevention Research, and the Western Psychological Association. Dr. Locke has received numerous awards and honors. He was also recognized with honors by Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and The Golden Key National Honor Society.
