Supervision / Consultation of Other Therapists
Supervision / Consultation of Other Therapists
At some point in time, every counselor or therapist feels stuck, has a question, or is unsure about their work with a client. Over the years I have provided supervision, guidance, or consultation to other therapists of differing experience levels. I enjoy working with therapists of all experience levels; from the seasoned clinician to the intern therapists seeing their first client.

Second Opinion Service
Second Opinion Service
You’ve been to a health care provider who told you that you or someone you love has “X.” You don’t agree with "X" or don’t understand what "X" really means. With the current health care model, many providers venture down a diagnostic path based on incomplete information, a 12-15 minute evaluation, and the use of brief screening tools, rather than doing a thorough evaluation. For instance… Adult male who has difficulty getting to sleep goes to a physician who says “you’re depressed” and after a short evaluation prescribes an antidepressant medication. Fine, however, sleep problems can be due to a variety of different factors including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, behavioral or lifestyle considerations, general stress, substance use or abuse, environmental factors, and others. I believe in the value of a comprehensive assessment that includes psychological, biological, social, and environmental factors. I am happy to provide a second opinion and confer with other healthcare providers during the course of treatment.

Consultation to Businesses and Organizations
Consultation to Businesses and Organizations
Personal and interpersonal dynamics often express themselves in the workplace. Different communication styles, expectations of appreciation, favorite child/coworker experiences, feelings of value and self-worth, and compliance versus risk-taking are some of the common expressions. Family businesses or multi-generational family businesses can be some of the most conflict laden and problematic environments. There are often covert alliances in management teams, unhealthy levels of conflict, and passive aggressive behavior. Establishing healthy patterns of straightforward communication as well as a healthy level of constructive conflict can make a big difference in the overall health of the business. I can function in different roles providing feedback and interventions for structural, strategic, and situational needs.

Assessment Services
I offer or can facilitate a full range of psychological and neuropsychological assessment services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Initial consultations and brief assessments are performed by me, while in-depth assessments are conducted by my consultants who are Board-Certified Pediatric and Adult Neuropsychologists. Assessments are completed in a timely fashion and provide detailed reports with concrete treatment recommendations.
While many different issues can be assessed through this process, some of the more common conditions include:
- Psychiatric problems and emotional functioning
- Personality features and disorders
- Giftedness, intellectual abilities, and academic skills
- Learning disabilities, ADHD, ADD, attention skills
- Developmental disabilities, Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, language skills
- Memory or cognitive problems
- Alzheimer's disease, other forms of dementia
- Head injury, stroke, cognitive loss due to HIV or neurodegenerative diseases
An in-depth assessment can be extremely useful for clarifying complex diagnostic issues and determining the contribution of psychological, organic, and social factors to current functioning. During the assessment process information is incorporated from physicians, therapists, schools, and families as needed. For cases when psychological treatment is already in-process, the referring therapist is considered the provider of psychological treatment and our role is exclusively as assessment consultants.
